This 1978 BMW R80/7 was in storage in a private garage for a few years. That owner did not ride for the past few years and he recently passed. He was a truck driver and mechanic; this was his favorite cruiser when not on the road. He performed the majority of all services during his ownership utilizing his mechanic skills and tools.
This is an original paint motorcycle that cleaned right up. It needs some TLC attention on the bright work. Working odometer shows only 45,906 miles. This is a real “ran great when parked” motorcycle that has recently been completely serviced including carb rebuilds, starter solenoid replacement, new battery, new start switch, new fork service including new seals, boots, and fluids. This motorcycle has been upgraded with RPM Billet triple tree which improves steering, adds clearance and improved cornering. A Dyna electronic ignition has also been added. Original tools and some riding materials will remain with the bike.
This bike is now running so good that a new title is now in sellers name and the bike is registered through April 2025.
MILEAGE: 45,906 showing on a working odometer.
PAINT: This is original paint with minimal scratches. The bike was found with a heavy layer of dust where it resided in an enclosed garage. The bike has been washed but not polished.
SHEET METAL: Sheetmetal is all original and in great shape, well fit. The fairing is a BMW aftermarket type purchased new with the bike. The windscreen is probably a bit too large and was custom to the rider.
CHROME: Original chrome contained surface rust and took a good shine with never dull.
MECHANICAL: This bike was running great when parked. It has been serviced and is again a great runner. Service included a new battery, rebuilt Bing carbs, new fuel lines, and a new starter solenoid. A new starter switch was installed and the fork tubes were serviced including installation of new seals, boots, and fluid. Note that the previous owner enhanced the ride with performance additions and a Lockhart oil cooler.
WHEELS & TIRES: Rims are original BMW aluminum with steel spokes.
Front tire is a Michelin 3.25 H 19
Rear tire is Michelin 110/90- H 18
