Overview
This 1948 Harley-Davidson Servi-Car was acquired by the current owner in Phoenix, AZ, where it had been stored in an old barn. The seller in AZ stored this as a basket case including the complete and assembled front end, motor, tires, and frame with gas and oil tanks (with original paint). Current owner purchased this 1948 Servi-Car in January 2014, and the search for additional 1948 OEM parts began by way of swap meets and vintage motorcycle shops. All parts needed for the bike were eventually found, except for the trunk, which was the most difficult to find. With continued searching, the owner finally located a 1948 trunk (OEM) in Idaho. With this last missing piece in place, the work on the full bike assembly began at AA Restorations a vintage motorcycle repair shop in California. Majority of parts are OEM, except for the speedometer.
After the work was completed, the owner drove the 1948 Servi-Car to the coast a few times but had to move not long after. Since the move, finding a good place to store the bike has been difficult. The owner has decided to sell this ’48 Servi-Car to someone who will really enjoy it and ride it often, rather than let it fall into disrepair again. Currently stored inside in Sebastopol CA. The bike has a clean CA Title and is currently registered.
Mileage
Approximately 300 miles since rebuild. The working speedometer shows 2615 but it was procured during the rebuild and not reset.
Paint
Excellent quality paint applied by a professional in good condition. Some chips in the trunk and cracks in the paint on the tanks.
Sheet Metal
Original sheet metal. Correctly restored and well fit. No major dings or dents noted.
Chrome
Chrome in decent condition, some surface rust on parts near base on front spokes.
Mechanical
This bike is barely broken in from the rebuild. Starts well and smooth through the gears.
Wheels & Tires
Front: chromed steal rim with chrome spokes Avon Speedmaster 350 S 19
Rear: Painted steal rims with painted spokes. Shinko MT 90-16 M/C 7YH on the rear
