Motorcycle Conditions:
Sheet Metal:
When the bike was found, the original fenders were too far gone to successfully bring them back to life, so high quality replacements were obtained. The front fender was manufactured by an artisan in Germany and the rear fender was made by Colton Hardsion, a noted metalsmith whose work has been featured in Hotrod magazine.
The original gas tank was sealed & painted, but eventually leaked so i again had the tank resealed professionally, but it still continued to leak, rather than go though that once more, I obtained a high-quality replacement tank made by another vendor in Germany (It is difficult to find high quality reproductions here in the US). The chain guard is reproduction from Jerry Greers as there was no chain guard when I found the bike and have not been able to source one yet.
Paint Condition:
The sheet metal and front and rear fenders forks, brackets, tank, battery box and tool box are painted in original Indian red. The color swatch for this color was provided by Bob Stark and came from a sample that he sprayed from an original can of Indian enamel paint. The paint consists of a base coat and several coats of clear. The Indian decal was custom made and the gold color of the decal was antiqued to look aged. The pin striping was done by John Hannukaine to match the decal as close as possible and then clear coated approximately five times and sanded in between to get the pin striping and the decal as smooth as possible. The paint condition is exceptional.
Chrome / Nickel / Misc. Plating Condition:
The plating of the cylinder heads, intake manifold, nuts, etc. is done in Watts nickel as it was done at the factory and is in excellent condition.
