This 1973 BMW R-75/5 is the last of Jerry Hatfield’s touring bikes. He purchased it many years ago when in Texas and it has been very faithful to him.
Jerry Hatfield was not a real fan of the toaster tanks and he wanted a road bike. He contracted with a BMW shop in Texas to make him a bike for his style. This motorcycle is the result of that customized build
Replica Krauser quick-installation/removal saddlebags. Two sets of saddlebag keys, i.e. 2 keys to lock bags to luggage rack; and two keys to lock saddlebag “lids” closed. Transparent yellow plastic purse stores bag keys in the toolbox container. Standard-USA style mid-level handlebars. German-style police handlebars; rare – basically UN-obtanium. This motorcycle is also equipped with a German Police windscreen.
“This bike was on my list of keepers, but Parkinson’s Disease is eroding my riding skills so that the Beemer is incompatible with long rides like trans-USA (four on the BMW and twice on a 1929 INDIAN Scout).”
This motorcycle has served Jerry Hatfield very well over the past 15 plus years. His disease precludes him from his favorite activity, riding, so It is time for a new owner to enjoy this motorcycle.
An autographed book by Jerry Hatfield of the buyer’s choice will be signed by Jerry.
36,200 miles showing on a working speedometer
Paint is in great shape, minimal scratches if any. The bike could use a good detail.
Sheet metal is in excellent condition and well fit. This was originally a 1973 "Boxer" that Jerry Hatfield decided to have customized for his riding which included a tank change.
Chrome is in good shape and in need of a good cleaning
This motorcycle is in good mechanical condition. Carburetors balanced for slow steady idle in typical hot weather. This bike has seen limited duty for the past few years because of the increased difficulty of the advance of Parkinson’s disease. Bike could use good service and cleaning to make it roadworthy and extra presentable.
