This 1972 Norton Commander roadster was found as a complete rolling basket in Pennsylvania. Over the course of the last 15 years correct parts were collected and upgrades added. This is a rider. It can be a show bike, but I would hate to see it sit. It was meticulously restored every nut and bolt, ground up. Most recently the top end was done 2000 mi ago, new valves, springs, valve seats cut, cylinders honed, new rings, new gaskets, new Barnett cables and clutch, Power Arc electronic points and coils, Amal Premier carbs, new Avon tires, new head steady and front-end triple tree and fork rebuild. Matching frame, engine and trans, original Smiths gauges, original chrome and aluminum, with the classic gold and black on a new steel tank, it definitely is a head turner. I don’t have a choke on it because it became unnecessary, it starts very easily and sounds great. Very smooth and fast, fun ride.
This 1972 Norton Commando is built to go and for show!
MILEAGE: 18096 showing on the working odometer. Mileage is total on the bike with 2000 after rebuild/restore.
PAINT: Bike was recently repainted, frame 10 years ago, tanks and side covers 3 years ago. Excellent shape other than tiny nicks on bottom of frame also slight wear where the seat meets the frame. In a certain light you can see a clear coat blemish on right side of the tank.
SHEET METAL: Sheet metal is original to the bike and well fit. Properly prepared during restoration, no dings or dents noted. Years ago, replaced fiberglass tank and side covers with new Emgo steel tank and side covers. No blemishes.
CHROME: Chrome is bright and shiny throughout. Classic British chrome looks like it did when it rolled off the factory floor. One scrape on exhaust where Kickstarter has rubbed.
MECHANICAL: Great, would be able to be taken on a road trip in its current state. Most recently the top end was done 2000 mi ago, new valves, springs, valve seats cut, cylinders honed, new rings, new gaskets, new Barnett cables and clutch, Power Arc electronic points and coils, Amal Premier carbs, and steel braided oil lines installed.
