Overview

This is a 1941 Indian Chief Bobber. (A Bobber is a motorcycle that has been customized without cutting the frame). It is a matching number motorcycle with no front fender and a Harley front fender turned backward on the rear. This motorcycle has not run for 10 plus years. It does kick through with compression. The bike has storage scratches and dings, is laden with dust, the seat leather is not usable. The tires hold air but are not road worthy. There are many correct 1940 Indian parts on the motorcycle. There are quick ties noted holding some linkage together.

Mileage

Unknown mileage. Unknown if the bike was running when parked, but this was the owner’s rider. No damage apparent to the eye. 20088 miles noted on the odometer. Does not appear to be working.

Paint

Frame paint appears to be original. The tanks and the rear fender are older repaint. The paint will probably restore somewhat with a good cleaning and polish.

Sheet Metal

The sheet metal that is present is in good shape with minimal dings. The gas tanks appear to be worthy, no visible soft spots. No dings or dents noted.

Chrome

What chrome that is on the motorcycle is dull and pitting. It will probably not take to a cleaning.

Mechanical

The mechanical condition of this motorcycle is unknown. It has not run for at least 10 years. There is no outward indicator of repairs needed. The engine and drive train are intact and appear to have been operable when parked. The chains are properly in place as are all mechanical parts. There is no damage noted to the cylinders or heads. This motorcycle could be placed in service with a flush of the lubricants and fresh fuel with a carburetor cleaning. Many experts would consider and advise a complete teardown of the engine and transmission to prevent a catastrophic event occurring from static decay.

Wheels & Tires

Rims are painted steel with Stainless steel spokes and nipples.
Front Tire is Continental MT 90 16. Tread is good, sidewalls are decent. Tires over 10 years old
Rear Tire is Continental MT 90 16. Tread is good, sidewalls are decent, tires are unreliable because of age.
