Overview

This is a real Class “C” racer “Indian Motorcycle” modified for serious Go, not Show. Once clocked at 98 mph!

This 1936 Sport Scout racer is not a “made for show” Indian racer, like the one that went for $52,000 last year at Las Vegas. This one has the heart of a racer, made for go, and has some history, like when the Unser’s asked me how I knew when to shift when I raced it up Pikes Peak (before it was paved) and they noticed it had no tachometer or speedo, and I answered:

“When your nuts start to vibrate so much your vision blurs, it’s time to shift.” I think that quote made it onto ESPN and some 16,000,000 viewers.

This racer was first raced in the areas around Pennsylvania, TT races, and then dissembled in 1947. It was left dissembled until 1989-1990 when well-known Indian and BMW racer and acclaimed mechanic, Stan Myers, acquired and restored it to racing condition for the current owner for “Pre-1940 Handshift” racing under AHRMA rules. Eventually it saw racing at Daytona (the big track), Sturgis (flat track), and in the famous Race to The Clouds (Pikes Peak). Other road races were at Steamboat Springs and Mead, Colorado. It was last running and entered in the Billings Hill Climb in 2018.This Indian Sport Scout motorcycle is in race trim and has been in the ownership of the seller for over 20 years. Acquired in 1990, first raced it 1991 (Savannah, GA).

As noted above, this motorcycle has some history on the track and race events.

This 1936 Indian Sport Scout Racer is tuned and ready for the next rider!
