Overview

This 1931 Indian 101 Scout is currently owned by Norm Gerlich, former owner of Antique Cycle Northwest, of Seattle. It originated in the past in Wisconsin, where it served as a daily rider and a motorcycle polo bike. While battle scars were evident, it was ridden for a number of years in tours throughout the west, putting in over 10,000 miles without any troubles or breakdowns of any type.

In 2003, Norm took it into the shop and completely disassembled and rebuilt or restored the bike . . . a 100% total restoration, including the engine and drive train. The frame was also trued. The many original items were retained, so that there are very few repo parts on this bike (rear luggage carrier, speedo light, horn face, exhaust system). Except for the added rear brake light switch, and custom shift knob, this is a perfect example of a factory built machine.

The bike has only 300 miles since restoration was finished. It is a very strong runner, with the reliability and comfort that made the 101 model famous. A fine example of “the last and the best”. This is an absolute quality restoration including a motor build by Johnny Eagles. The machine is titled and licensed in the state of Washington and it currently sports an original 1931 Washington license plate.

This motorcycle is ready to be presented for top point award in an AMCA judging event.
