Overview

1930 Douglas S 600

This is a 1930 DOUGLAS S6 which is the sister bike to the DOUGLAS T6, the Isle of Mann winner in 1930. The S6 stands for the Sport version of the T6 for street use.  There were a limited number of the S6’s made in the UK and this is the only one in the USA.

The bike is unique in that is has a 600 cc LONGITUDINAL TWIN mounted on slide rails.  When one needed to adjust the chain tension one merely turns a set screw and the motor moves along the rails and thereby tightens the chain.

The current owner’s relative located this English made motorcycle for him and it was offered for sale upon the death of the owner in England. Once in his curatorship, the motorcycle was completely restored here in the US and it has won many awards. The motorcycle is kept in concourse condition in a motorcycle bubble. It was run and ridden often after the restoration but now resides in a dry state to preserve it for the next owner. Included in the sale is all of the paperwork acquired with the motorcycle including the English registrations and export information as well as  license and tax registration certificates thru the 1930’s and 40’s.

A bad back forces the sale of this fine machine.
