This beautiful, powerful, 1947 Indian Chief Bobber was built by Indian Dan Reese for his own pleasure. Indian Dan is known on the West Coast for his Indian building skills and his history of working for Sammy Pierce in 1972 and then American Indian Motorcycle Company motorcycles when the inventory was moved to Central California. His builds use only the best NOS Indian parts and top quality aftermarket parts built in USA. This beautiful motorcycle is road worthy and has been broken in correctly. The bike has been fully serviced for this sale. This Bobber was built in late 2021 and has completed many So Cal Road runs. This Indian Chief Bobber runs as good as it looks and is smooth through the gears.
This Indian Chief Bobber is a technical build by a skilled technician who has built about 100 bikes and 200 motors during his 50 year career. This was to be his last build, but a 1931 Indian 101 Chout is in the making and almost complete so it is time to free up space and funds!

MILEAGE: 2857 miles showing on a working odometer on the build.
CHASSIS: I started with the very best 47 Chief frame and front forks. They were sent to the frame shop to make sure they were perfectly straight. The parts including a perfect condition center stand, battery platform, brake and clutch pedal were then powder coated color Jet Black. The rear shock bodies are fitted with new bushings, new slipper rod's, new springs and new chrome covers. The front fork has new bushing's, seals, thrust washer's, shackle shafts, springs and shock absorber. Fresh plated handlebar risers with new medium high chrome handlebars. New seat post assembly with the optional heavy Springs, new bushing, adjusted low with added accessory spring. New seat bracket and brown leather saddle round out the chassis.
PAINT: Paint work prepped and applied by a professional. Only the best products were used. The paint is in excellent condition and takes a great sheen. $2600 paint job Professionally done, Colors are Indian factory Fallon Brown and Lamborghini Tangerine Pearl. Clear coated with Indian Decal on front fender and gearshift pattern on top of gas tank just for laughs!
SHEET METAL: All sheet metal is brand new. Tanks and fenders come from Matt Blake at Iron Horse Corral. Belt guard, chain guard and toolbox come from Starklite Cycles. Chain guard modified for gap less fit. All new controls include grips, sleeves, retaining nuts, slides & guides, inner and outer cables and covers with heat shrink covering inside bars and out, keeping lubricant in and moisture out. Restored spedo, all new including cable and drive unit. Bike has less than 3000 miles and meticulously serviced. Original Indian accessory shift knob. New pedal rubbers and foot boards, military steel kick start pedal, will gladly replace with civilian rubber if desired. New 80" Chief kick start crank. Crocker style tail light.
CHROME: The chrome was all rechromed during the build and it is in excellent shape. Most including the rims is in a highly polished state.
MECHANICAL: All new control linkage. Lever on carburetor for quarter turn throttle grip. Engine has 80" heads with sound suppressors. Bonneville cams by Kiwi with Bonneville lifters, cylinders, manifold and carburetor. 80" pistons with "total seal" piston rings, gap less compression rings and special formula 3 piece chrome ally edge oil rings for perfect cylinder wall pressure. Gives maximum oil mileage & minimum wear. Truitt and Osborne 80 flywheels new, tried to zero shaft roll out and balanced. Lightened, spiral oil grooved push rods individually clearance fit to each guide. Stainless valves, hard guides for longest life. Chromium Springs with aluminum collars & new keepers. Stainless steel valve cover set with double "o" ring seals. Oil in, water out, max crank case vacuum. Upgrade alloy breather valve. Engine and power train built with all new shafts, bearings, cages, races, thrust washers and bushings through out, with absolutely perfect clearances. All new sprockets, chains and Greer clutch assembly. New tranny gears and bearings, one thrust, one sealed. 26 tooth sprocket. Hand made dual exhaust pipes equal length, high temp chrome color ceramic coated inside and out. Stain proof and finish never dulls or changes color. Nos distributor & new coil. New improved original brake light switch and handlebar switches. New ignition switch and ammeter, original moto lamp headlight powder coated with chromed reflector a bit brighter.
ELECTRIC SYSTEM: Restored original high output 6 volt generator has new sealed armature, sealed bearings, all new parts, powder coated, electronic regulator w/proper Autolite tags on both. Duracell battery in Greer's battery case. Direct, left-hand gear shifter, Jockey Shift like police models, no linkage.
WHEELS & TIRES: Wheel hubs like new and powder coated with new bearings, races, seals and retainers. Brake drums and backing plates are like new with all new shoes, bearings, seals, supports and axles. Premium new chrome rims like mirrors. New spoke set is duplicated with stainless steel for extra strength and easy clean. New old style Avon speed master tires balanced and comes with additional new spare tire.
Front tire is Avon MK II 500 X 16 serviceable.
Rear tire is Avon MK II 500 X 16 Serviceable.
