Overview
This is a “Barn Fresh” find of a classic 1934 Harley-Davidson VL with a side car. The bike was found in an industrial building in Orange County CA right under the shadow of the Big A (Angel Stadium). The bike is documented as living in the building for the last 35 – 40 years without seeing daylight. The dings and dents currently on the bike attest to its time in storage. This bike has been washed down, cleaned, lubed, fueled up, battery inserted and wha- la; started on the second ignition kick. It had a nice trip up and down the street on fresh air pressure! Speedo works including the odometer and the speed indicator. No, it did not smoke.
The Harley-Davidson VD model was a 74 inch low compression motor for delivery use with a 3 speed. All part numbers appear to be correct. Only 664 of these were made in 1934. The paint is of an older restoration and has scratches and areas where it is flaking off. This would be a great ride and a great conversation piece as is. Easy restoration if that is your desire.

This year model does not have chrome because of the Great Depression.

This machine started right up. Clutch and brakes were perfectly adjusted as if they were tuned up yesterday. Transmission shifted without problems. All lights worked.
