1917 EXCELSIOR TWIN
BIG VALVE BOARD TRACK RACER
Engine # 92433
Frame # N/A
The Excelsior Motorcycle company was one of the big 3 manufactures of motorcycles in the early teens. Excelsior routinely held records for the fastest mile and won races against Indian and Harley Davidson. This 1917 Excelsior Board Tracker was purchased from a motorcycle aficionado who was starting to downsize. This motorcycle was a part of a small collection of Excelsiors that were used as displays by the author of a Book on Excelsiors “American Excelsior: the History of Excelsior, Super X, and Henderson Motorcycles”. This Excelsior Board Tracker had been in his possession and on display in his house for over 5 years. He had it as displayed and had no information on the builder or the restorer. This motorcycle has never ran during his ownership.
The restoration of this motorcycle is not currently chronicled, but it is extremely well done. It is correctly appointed and appears to be ready for the next event.
61 CI inlet over exhaust V-Twin engine, Big Valve, Schebler race carburetor, Hand pump/splash lubrication, Chain to jack shaft primary with chain final drive, 55 ½ inch wheelbase.
If you have information on the build/restoration of this motorcycle, please contact this website.
