Harley Davidson KHK; Harley Davidson Shovel Head, Chopper, Indian Chief Bobber
Harley Davidson motorcycles are nicknamed by motor parts. Specifically the heads. A Harley Davidson KHK is not named for the heads but rather it was named by a progressive model numbering system. The heads on the KHK are actually flatheads. The K model was the precussor to the Harley Davidson Sporster. The K model was souped up into the KHK for 2 years by using chrome alloy finish in some of the engine internals. The 1970 Harley Davidson Shovelhead on this classic motorcycle site is a great example of the shovelhead motor. Check out the pictures. This shovelhead motorcycle is also a great example of an Old school chopper. Look at the pictures, that is one heck of a rake! The Indian Chief bobber on this classic motorcycle site is the coolest example of a Indian Chief Bobber that I know of. Not only was it used by Steve McQueen but it is a real nice looking old school piece by a reknown builder. The bike comes complete with Cycle world magazine essay on the build.

Let the debate continue.
Current auction listings are using lots of desciptors for motorcycles.
The Hartung auction by Auction America was definitive in its presentation of the original or born as motorcyle. Those bikes were purchased as original pieces and put away. Incredible motorcyles there for sure. Bonhams auction at the Peterson Museum in los Angeles had exquisite examples of restored motorcycles, reproduced motorcycles and remanufactured motorcycles. http://www.bonhams.com/usa/auction/19466/
According to the AMCA a restored motorcycle at a minimum must have at least original motorcases and the majority of the frame needs to be original. Well if the frame suffered water damage and completely split from the pressure during a freeze how do you restore it? Best way is to be exacting as you reproduce the frame.
Reproduction or recreations are bikes or parts that are made from scratch with virgin material in such a manner that is is indistinguisable from the original part. It should be equal in strength or better than the original. I would not want to ride a frame made of light weight tubing! Rumor has it that a famous motorcycle guy built preproduction motorcycle frames of real early motorcycles from light weight tubing, wow!
Klone motorcycles are those that are made to such exacting standards that they are equal in every aspect to the original

Harley-Davidson Knucklehead vs. Knuckle Head
Harley Davidson introduced the “Knucklehead” motor in 1936. This motor earned the nick name Knucklehead because the top of the cyclinder of the head of the motor looks like a closed human fist lined with knuckles. Strong and powerful. A knuckle head on the other hand is a derogatory term describing a person that acts out inappropriately or idiocitcally. Weak and ineffectual
This is a view of a 1946 Knucklehead motor in a Harley Davidson Bobber.
